The Fourth Wall

Like his MTG twice-over hit, Sylvia, which featured an actress playing a dog, Albert Ramsdell Gurney 's The Fourth Wall is a surreal comedy.
As the play opens, we meet Peggy who has redecorated the living room with everything facing one bare wall - the "fourth wall."* Her husband (who usually admires her decorating) enlists their friends to convince her to abandon the idea, but the "wall" has a strange effect on everyone who enters the room - they begin to behave as if they are acting in a play.
In spite of all the laughs, Gurney's inventive comedy makes points about the theater and explores our place in the world today.
